Pursuant to adjournment the Senate was called to order by President                                 
Therriault at 11:29 a.m.                                                                            
                                                                                                    
The roll showed nineteen members present. Senator Lincoln was                                       
excused from a call of the Senate.                                                                  
                                                                                                    
The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Father Anastasius Iwuoha of                                 
the Cathedral of the Nativity. Senator Hoffman moved and asked                                      
unanimous consent that the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was                              
so ordered.                                                                                         
                                                                                                    
          Lord God, we bring this gathering before You. We                                          
          pray that this Senate body will continue to be guided                                     
          by Your wisdom and enriched by Your grace. We                                             
          thank You for Your blessing and protection on this                                        
          state and country, for its leaders and people. We pray                                    
          for those who are committed to public safety and                                          
          service, especially the military as they try to restore                                   
          peace and order in Iraq, the police, firefighters,                                        
          paramedics and other emergency workers who put                                            
          themselves at great risk to protect us, that they not be                                  
          subjected to unnecessary and overwhelming danger.                                         
          We renew our appreciation for what they do for us.                                        
          Mighty God, we ask You to continue to bless our                                           
          efforts for the good and progress of Alaska, our                                          
       nation and the entire world.
