Pursuant to adjournment the Senate was called to order by President                                                             
Giessel at 10:38 a.m.                                                                                                           
                                                                                                                                
The roll showed twenty members present.                                                                                         
                                                                                                                                
The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Brian Ewing, Calvary                                                             
Fellowship. Senator Hoffman moved and asked unanimous consent                                                                   
the prayer be spread. Without objection, it was so ordered.                                                                     
                                                                                                                                
          Lord Jesus, your willing servants got into a boat and                                                                 
          set out. They had a solid mission, a clear objective, a                                                               
          good boat and solid oars. They had the experience                                                                     
          and expertise to get them to their destination across a                                                               
          calm sea. What they did not expect was a suddenly                                                                     
          sloppy sea, an opposing wind and to spend the next 8                                                                  
          hours in the middle of the night “tortured at the oars                                                                
          making only three miles.”                                                                                             
                                                                                                                                
          Lord, this seems like a metaphor for our lives and                                                                    
          work.                                                                                                                 
                                                                                                                                
          Sometimes it is a delight and we are heroes because                                                                   
          we just fed a thousand hungry mouths. Then in some                                                                    
          strange juxtaposition we find ourselves grinding                                                                      
          away in the unthankful darkness tormented by the                                                                      
          exhausting labor and lack of measurable progress.

          Lord it was into just that scenario that you showed up                                                                
          all unexpected walking on the water and in a classic                                                                  
          understatement the record says, “they were glad to                                                                    
          take him into the boat.”                                                                                              
                                                                                                                                
          Lord, we are struggling at the oars trying to make real                                                               
          progress. Would you come to us in some unexpected                                                                     
          way today and over these next few days. And may we                                                                    
          be quick to invite you into our boat. You are not a                                                                   
          meddling outsider but the only one who can truly                                                                      
          master every life struggle when once we invite you                                                                    
          into the equation.                                                                                                    
                                                                                                                                
          Lord, in Jesus’ name I ask this for myself and for this                                                               
          body of men and women who truly desire to make a                                                                      
                   change for good in this state.     Amen.
